Creating a new, better day
      Several letter writers to the Journal have echoed the barking seals of right-wing talk radio: Obama is imposing socialism on us and limiting "free enterprise." The naked truth is, like Franklin Roosevelt, Obama is a liberal and a capitalist. Like Roosevelt he is trying to save the capitalists from themselves. This is a big job.

Answers to school questions, comments
      Since Jeanne Silvers presented her questions and comments in writing to the Trinity Alps Unified Governing Board at their regular meeting held March 11 at the close of public comment, I felt it would be appropriate to answer them in a public forum, i.e. Letters to the Editor so that others who may have the same questions could see the answers.

      Is America headed for another revolution? With the federal government larger and more oppressive than ever and growing faster than rabbits reproduce, sadly I think it is ultimately inevitable. The federal government is rapidly becoming the very tyrannical entity that "we the people" threw off in the 18th century.

Seeking help for lodge
      In regards to the article in the Trinity Journal on March 18 about the Trinity Alps Recovery Lodge, I am trying to organize some people to help with the projects that the county wants completed within three months. We plan to add a 1,500-gallon septic tank with two leach lines.

How it works — or doesn't
      When the federal, state or county governments fall short on funds they cut programs, raise taxes and up various fees to try to make up for their shortfall. You don't see one politician without food or homeless. The next in line is the business owner who raises his prices to make up for his or her losses.

All about the almighty dollar
      In response to Norma Johnson's letter on March 25, "Weber Got Off Lightly." You are right, Norma. Our judicial system's sense of crime vs. serious crime is really messed up. I recall a couple of articles in a newspaper approximately two years ago; the first one I couldn't miss. It was titled in large bold print at the top of the page and took up a quarter of the page.
