      Hayfork High School, the No.4 seed in the sectional basketball playoffs, will face the winner of the Big Valley-Herlong contest from the first round of the playoffs. The Timberjacks, after receiving a first-round bye, will host Thursday's quarterfinal game.

THS tops season with wins
      The Trinity High School varsity boys basketball team ended the regular season with a big win at home against Mount Shasta and a convincing win at Modoc. Last week on Tuesday night, Mount Shasta came to town needing a win to lock up the Shasta Cascade League title.

Mustangs give Hayfork rough ride
      The Lady Timberjacks junior varsity team was the only winner in last week's big showdown with Champion Christian. Emily Arnold scored 14 points in the 41-23 victory over the Mustangs as the everimproving JV team finished its season on a winning note. Samantha Smith scored nine points, Harley Harrison six, Chantille Little five, Holly Fox four and Christine Champion three.

Timberjacks playoff schedule
      The Lady Timberjacks (19- 7) will play the winner of the Mercy-Providence game at 7 p.m. Saturday in Hayfork. Mercy (15-5) was a heavy favorite to defeat Providence (12-8). During the regular season Mercy split in games against Champion Christian while Providence lost big to Champion Christian, Westwood, Maxwell and Redding Adventist.

Lady Wolves finish season
      The Wolves' Sarah Curran shoots in a game against Burney. The Wolves wound up their varsity season on Feb. 18 with a loss to Modoc. Their overall record was 7 wins - 16 losses. League record was 5 wins - 7 losses.

Little League sign-up schedules
      Hayfork Little League will be having sign-ups for Little League baseball on the following Saturdays: Feb. 28, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 7, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday, March 14, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is for children ages 5- 12. You will need the child's birth certificate. There is a $15 sign-up fee. Signups will be held at the Little League field.
