Fiji topic of presentation

A Peace Corps volunteer will share experiences and photographs at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at Mamma Llama Coffeehouse in downtown Weaverville. There is no charge.

Mike McMillan served with the Peace Corps in Fiji 2003-2005. He's a former Trinity County planner, firefighter, ambulance manager and deputy sheriff. He is now building his home near Covington Mill.

Fiji is a group of 300 tropical islands in the South Pacific. As one of the last places in the world to be overtaken by colonization, Fiji retains its native traditions and culture to this day. McMillan's assignment there was to work with villages on issues of sewage, water supply, solid waste, piggery pollution and eco-tourism.
