MARGIE D. MILLER

Margie D. Miller passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center in Redding with her daughters by her side on January 3.

Margie was a cherished mother, a beloved grandmother and a dedicated teacher whom many of her students will remember with great fondness. To her many friends, she will be remembered for her generosity of spirit and sharing of her kindness and happiness.

Margie attended Arizona State Teachers College in Tempe and graduated with her teaching degree in Chico in 1962. She began her career as a substitute teacher in 1949 at Yreka High School, and she also taught primary grades in Granada and Gazelle in the early 1950s. She taught in Lewiston before moving to Pakistan with her family in 1962 where she taught at the Mangla International School in Baral Colony in Mangla, West Pakistan. Upon returning to the United States, Margie taught in Happy Valley until she retired in 1993. She continued to be a popular substitute teacher until recent years.

She is survived by her children, Betty Miller Creary and her husband James Creary, Margie Mary Miller Ray, Silver Carl Miller and his wife Adelheid Filthaut- Miller, and Susan Louise Miller; and by her grandchildren Daniel Kylin Ray, Katherine Elizabeth Ray and Michael Boss Creary.

A celebration of her life is scheduled for February 7 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Riverview Golf & Country Club, 4200 Bechelli Lane, Redding.
