Hayfork's snow berm
      Can anyone intelligently explain why Caltrans piles the snow in the middle of the road in downtown Hayfork, making it into oneway streets? To top it off, you could be ticketed for driving through the berm. The explanation from the snowplow drivers is that they can't block the business driveways.

Bible stands for good
      Ray Schar's letter (Dec. 24) is so full of misinformation, it calls for a response. So many folks misunderstand the concept of Christian love. It does not mean letting anyone do anything they want to, in the manner of a permissive parent letting the kids eat all the candy and drink all the soda pop they want.

Marijuana and police
      It is disgusting to hear that law enforcement officials are trying to maximize their marijuana enforcement. I wonder if these medics with badges still believe the racist fictions used to outlaw marijuana to begin with: * "There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the U.S., and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers.

Helpers in Hayfork
      The Hayfork Community Center Board of Directors wishes to thank the community for the generous outpouring of donations to make this Community Christmas program a success. The center faced some interesting challenges in the fundraising attempts this year, between the fires and the rain canceling the annual fall rummage sale.
