Special performances of 'Ruthless' musical

Haven't had a chance to see the North State's latest hit, "Ruthless! The Musical"? Now's your chance.

Due to popular demand, The Trinity Players have added a final matinee performance this Sunday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Alps Performing Arts Center in Weaverville.

In addition, they invite theater lovers to a special "payas you-can" performance of "Ruthless" this Thursday, Aug. 14, at 8 p.m. For one night, The Trinity Players welcome patrons to pay what they can afford and experience what Variety calls "a wonderfully smart and funny send-up of every Broadway brat from Gypsy to the Bad Seed."

"Everyone deserves the chance to enjoy the great music and laughter that Ruthless has to offer, regardless of whether they can afford the full price of a general ticket," said Kathy Martens, lead actress and co-producer.

She said the extra Sunday matinee performance was added because The Players "kept hearing that people wanted another performance, and we wanted to give them the opportunity to get away from the smoke and the back-to-school rush. Singing, dancing, making people laugh - that's our way of giving back to the community." "Ruthless! The Musical" plays Aug. 14, 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $14 general and $13 for seniors and students, with the special "payas you-can" performance on Aug. 14. Tickets are available in Weaverville at Imaginations, Mamma Llama, Dragonfly Outfitters, and Susie's Bakery, and in Hayfork at Zion Natural Foods.

For more information, call The Trinity Players at (530) 623-2890.
