The banks of Ewing Reservoir in Hayfork were lined with children and their families Sunday during the annual Hayfork Lions Club Fishing Derby. Most of the kids, ranging from toddlers to teenagers, used orange Power Bait to pull in nearly 60 trout (averaging 8-10 inches) that had been stocked four times leading up to the contest this year. The final Rodders' meeting before the car show will be held at Marino's restaurant in Weaverville on July 30 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is open to anyone with ideas on how to improve the show and anyone with an interest in old cars. Lacey Garcia placed second in points for girls 17- 18 years old and Stephen Harwood took first place in points for 11-12 boys. Harwood's 50 back, 50 free, and 100 free times set new meet records. More ... G-Force gymnasts Jordan Hamilton, Robby Jackson and Hannah Finley attended the Tumbling and Trampoline National Championships held in Kansas City, Mo., during the Fourth of July weekend. Jordan competed level 6 on tumbling placing eighth, and level 9 on trampoline placing fifth. More ... UK International Soccer Camps are coming to the Trinity area this summer. Local children will have the opportunity to participate in the camps from Aug. 4-8. The day camp program is for soccer players in the Trinity area ages 4 to 16. More ... The Lewiston Gun Club will hold a Bench Rest Target Match for centerfire rifles Saturday, Aug. 2, with the first round starting at 9 a.m. Modified International Benchrest Shooters rules will govern the 100-yard, timed event. Competition will be in four classes: Factory, Modified, Unlimited and Factory Classic Military. More ...
