About 300 adults and children attended the one-night "Trinity Fire Stomp" concert held at Lee Fong Park in Weaverville on Saturday. Leonard E. Wheeler, 67, of Weaverville died July 28 at his home after an extended illness. He was born Sept. 11, 1940, in Washington, Pa. In 1947, his family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, and then in 1953 moved to Cordova, Alaska, where he graduated from high school and became a commercial fisherman. He married Lora in 1963. More...
The banks of Ewing Reservoir in Hayfork were lined with children and their families Sunday during the annual Hayfork Lions Club Fishing Derby. Most of the kids, ranging from toddlers to teenagers, used orange Power Bait to pull in nearly 60 trout (averaging 8-10 inches) that had been stocked four times leading up to the contest this year.
