Sheriff's Report
      The Trinity County Sheriff's Department received the following reports from July 14 to 20: July 14 - A 911 call is received from a male who fell 20 feet from the top of a sky crane at the Hayfork Airport. Theft of pain pills is reported. A caller from CPS reports a male sitting by a fence talking to himself. A Lewiston man reports theft of Norco pills.

Business development workshop
      The Shasta College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) workshop "So You Want to Start a Business" will be held Thursday, July 24, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the SBDC Workshop/Training Room at 1420 Butte St. in downtown Redding. This seminar is a short introduction to entrepreneurship and the creation and development of new business ventures.

National Guard troops join the firefight
      The Lime Complex Incident Base at the Trinity County Fairgrounds now hosts nearly 240 additional firefighters deployed here as part of Task Force Pick. This includes several Southern California battalions: the 315th Engineers, 578th Engineers, 40th ST Battalions, 250th Military Intelligence Unit, 144th Field Artillery, and Charlie 297 Medical Units.

Body found at Deadfall Lake
      An autopsy Tuesday did not reveal the cause of death for an Ashland, Ore., woman whose body was found in the northern tip of Trinity County. Charlotte Skibinski, 57, was reported missing on Thursday night. Her body was found at Deadfall Lake near the Pacific Crest Trail on Friday by a member of her family, said Trinity County Detective Bryan Ward.

Lions Club business dinner
      The Lewiston Lions Club will hold its social/business meeting Thursday, July 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lewiston Community Center on Texas Avenue. This will be a potluck dinner; attendees are asked to bring an entrée, salad or dessert to share. The agenda includes planning the pancake breakfast and flea market Aug. 30 and the Relay for Life Sept.

      Lowden Park Pool is open for swimming during construction. Stop by for a cool dip in the old pool and check out the progress on the new pool. Swim lessons are still offered in the morning and evening, adult exercise at 12:05 p.m. and 5:05 p.m., and Open Swim from 1 to 4 p.m.
