Golden Age Center News

By JIM MacFARLANE (530) 623-2324

We have had the one sitting for lunch since July 1 and continuing through the present, I am pleased to report things appear to be working quite well. There will be a survey form available on Tuesday, July 29, so that you may comment on the one sitting. Pick one up, fill it out, and return it to the front desk upon leaving from the lunch. We will read your comments and evaluate the trial period and report the findings to you in a future article.

I am sad to report that, due to lack of volunteers for the manning of Blue Barn II, the sales from Blue Barn II have fallen to a point where it has become necessary to close it rather than face an additional area of loss. Blue Barn II will be closed by 2 p.m. on Aug. 30. So if there are any items that you were contemplating purchasing, please go there and procure them before it closes. Blue Barn I will, however, continue to be open on Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We are still in need of volunteers for the manning of Blue Barn I.

Due to the smoke adding to the health problems of many of our volunteers, we are in desperate need of volunteers for the lunches in the Golden Age Center. So if you are able and would like to help out in your center, please contact me.

If you would like to come to the Golden Age Center for lunch but are unable to drive or due to the high cost of gasoline, and live in Weaverville, contact the center and we will arrange to pick you up in our bus.

A reminder to put on your calendar is Marathon Bingo on Aug. 9.
