Natural resource careers are focus of summer camp

All Trinity County students ages 16 to 18 are invited to attend a Natural Resource Careers Summer Camp being coordinated by The Watershed Center and Shasta College's Forestry/Natural Resource Department.

The day camp will be held in Hayfork Tuesday through Thursday, July 29-31, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Transportation will be provided each day from Weaverville and Mad River for students living in those areas.

The camp will introduce students to careers in forestry and natural resources via hands-on activities in the woods led by professionals from those fields. Career options include foresters, hydrologists, fisheries biologists and a variety of fire, fuels reduction and logging jobs.

The camp is free and all expenses are covered by the Forestry/Natural Resources Career Technical Education/ Economic Pathways Program grant.

Registration is required. For more information or sign-up sheets, call Nadya at The Watershed Center at 628-4206 or Missey at Shasta College's Forestry/Natural Resources Department at 242-2202.
