Hippy Chuck and the Rusty Pipes’

Hippy Chuck and the Rusty Pipes’ final performance will take place at the Trinity County Fair.

Hippy Chuck Sauer and wife Sandra are retiring the Rusty Pipes after a very successful 12-year run in Trinity County. The last performance will be at the Trinity County Fair, from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10.

This family band will have sons, sons-in-law, daughters and four grandchildren. They all have played with all three bands, Friends Bands in the ’80s, Universal Blues Band in ’90s, and the Rusty Pipes in the 2000s. Alumni from the other bands will play, some all the way from San Diego.

The band is unique with its songs from the ’30s, ’40s and ’60s. Hippy Chuck started out in the ’60s playing rock ’n’ roll in San Francisco, his wife in a jazz band in Detroit.

The Rusty Pipes will be missed and hard to replace, fans say.
