The free Hayfork and Weaverville Thanksgiving Dinner “feasts” have not been canceled this year. They will just look a little different.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, in Weaverville organizers are collaborating with The Soup Kitchen, Mountain Chapel Church, and the Weaverville Lions Club, as well as individual donors to once again provide a free traditional Thanksgiving dinner to the entire community.
Meals will be distributed from noon to 2 p.m. Thanksgiving day, Nov. 26. There are three options: If you would like to receive a home-delivered meal, call 623-3933 and provide your name, address, phone number and how many meals you need. If you live in Trinity Center, there is someone willing to deliver there as well.
Meals will also be available for drive-up pick-up at Mountain Chapel Church (60 Oak Ridge Road), or at the Schmidbauer Hardware parking lot on Main Street. Call and leave your name and how many meals you would like to pick up.
If the Soup Kitchen has been delivering lunch to you on Fridays, you are automatically on the delivery list. Please let organizers know if you do not need a meal.
In Hayfork, a free drive-through dinner will be available from 2 to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving day, Nov. 26, at the Lucky Trail Bistro, 91 Trinity St. All COVID safety precautions will be taken, with masks, gloves and distancing.
Delivery is available to in-home seniors; contact Heather at 739-5982.
In Lewiston, on Thanksgiving day, you will be able to get a free take-out Thanksgiving Day dinner at the Moose Family Center from noon until 2 p.m., or until they run out. Call the Family Center at 778-3877 for more information.
