The Trinity Lake Lions had a super Karaoke Night on Friday, Aug. 2. Almost 30 people attended. Watch for an announcement of their third Karaoke night.

Coffee Creek Elementary School Meet-The-Teacher ice cream social is from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at the school. All are invited to meet our new teacher, Linda Burns, and Supt. Brian Burns. School starts Monday, Aug. 19.

Help our local firefighters by attending the Coffee Creek VFD Pancake Breakfast at CCVFD fire hall on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 9 a.m. to noon. This month’s menu includes pancakes, garden fresh frittatas, bacon, fresh fruit, coffee and juice. Cost is adults $15, kids $7.

Just over two weeks to our Labor Day activities. Saturday, Aug. 31, is packed with fun and the annual BBQ is Sunday, Sept. 1. Start the holiday Saturday with the Trinity Center VFD Auxiliary Pancake breakfast at the IOOF Hall, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Then mellow and help Alpen Cellars celebrate its 35th anniversary at the winery. This family-friendly party is from 3 to 7 p.m. in East Fork at 2000 East Fork Road, north of Trinity Lake. Enjoy an afternoon of music by DJ Steve Noverr and fun lawn games. Tickets $10 and includes a free glass of wine and a door prize ticket. Bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and outside food. The 52nd annual Trinity Lake Lions BBQ and Fly-in is Sunday, Sept. 1, from noon to 5 p.m. at Trinity Airport Resort, 500 Airport Road. Menu is tri-tip, chicken, Santa Rosa beans, coleslaw, roll and lemonade. Beer and wine available for purchase. Adults $20, kids 6-12 years $10, kids under 5 free. Crafts Fair starts at 10 a.m., Coffee Creek Fireflies will sell desserts, Mount Shasta 99s will be flying in, and a car show and live music is in the works. Watch for more information.

The Lions are looking for awesome folks to help with the barbecue setup. To lend two hands, meet at the Old Fire Hall next to the IOOF Hall at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30.

Trinity County is putting up wildfire cameras. Two are active; Oregon Mountain and Hayfork Divide. The webpage is www.alertwildfire.org/shastamodoc.

If you see smoke while viewing the camera, call 911 to alert our local resources. The goal is to install 10-12 more cameras to the system. The program is a consortium between The University of Nevada-Reno, University of California-San Diego, and the University of Oregon.
