Motorists traveling through Junction City may have noticed that a café which hasn’t been open in years has changed color -- and features an “Opening soon” sign over the door. Owner Leon Cody said the family is doing the necessary cleanup to reopen the shuttered café as soon as possible. Leon said the café will be operated by his grandson Jesse Cody and partner Angel Flores.
Locals who frequented the café when it was open will likely notice that the interior has not changed.
“It’s like time stood still in there,” Flores said, noting that it was last open in 2014. “Everything is still in good shape and we’re going to keep the layout.”
Flores said the café will start by offering take-out foods like burgers, fries, sandwiches, melts and pizzas, and will be ready to reopen its doors when the state allows. As for the name of the new old café in Junction City, Flores said it will be called “Cody’s Café.”
