On Thursday, April 25, 11 students and two chaperones from Trinity High School’s Future Business Leaders of America arrived in Sacramento to attend the State Leadership Conference. At the conference the students participate in two competitive events each trying to place high enough to move on to the National Leadership Conference taking place in San Antonio, Texas.
Although no local students placed high enough to attend nationals this year, the students had a full three days of studying, testing, sprinting up stairs in fear of missing an event, eating amazing and not-so-amazing pizza, participating in friendly competitions with other FBLA sections at the Clash of the Sections, and dancing their hearts out.
When arriving in Sacramento the FBLA members first walked to the state Capitol. At the Capitol the students had the opportunity to speak with state Sen. Mike McGuire who represents the 2nd District. While speaking with McGuire the students explained their competitions they would be competing in, and the five seniors attending described their plans after high school. Although it was a short time, the students appreciated that McGuire spoke to them and snapped a few pictures, including a goofy one where they stood on one leg which made its way onto Senator McGuire’s Facebook page.
